This hybrid course in Health Psychology, an academic cooperative, is a great opportunity to expand student knowledge of health and wellness. It is specifically well suited for those who desire a better understanding of behavior in the enhancement of health and prevention of disease, the recovery from and maintenance of chronic disease, and the connection between mental and physical health. Throughout the course we will use a combination of weekly meetings and online coursework to navigate the course content. In-person sessions will be held on Mondays from 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm and will include brief lectures, discussion, activities, food, and light exercise opportunities. Online work will include research, discussions, activities, and video recordings that students will complete on their own time. Primary online assignment submissions will be on Wednesdays with several days allowed afterward for responses to other student submissions. Topics will include stress and stress management techniques, nutrition, physical exercise, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic pain/pain management, seeking and obtaining care, as well as complementary and alternative medicine.
